A new ISO standard, ISO 45001 on Occupational Health and Safety Management system requirements is being produced with the intention of publication in October 2016.
The new standard is set to be aligned with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, both of which are also currently under review, they are both due for publication in 2015.
The first working draft was produced in late October 2013. The Committee Draft for the new standard is now available for purchase.
After the 8th September 2014, all UK comments on the committee draft will be reviewed by the national committee who will then decide what is put forward to the ISO Project committee.
Once comments have been considered the draft international standard will then be produced. The following stages (much like the 9001 and 14001) will then commence at the anticipate timescales which are subject to change:
- Draft International Standard – (DIS) 2015
- Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) – 2015
- International Standard (ISO) – 2016
